CHAPTER 3: WATER EVERYWHERE

“Tu the Pan, looks like you are off to another exciting adventure, while I’m here following Brigadier Quan once again,” exclaimed Huo. “We each have our own part to play in bringing peace, you know that right Huo?” Tu the Pan said impatiently as he packed his field bag and took along his pan.

Tu the Pan’s short temper and quiet nature never was an issue while in the military, but he always had issues keeping friends since he had always been blunt and strong-headed. Being strong headed Tu the Pan insists that leaders don’t need friends. In fact, he always enjoyed the pleasure of lunch alone without Huo constantly pestering him.

“Well, then I’m off! Best of luck Huo, may the Oracle be with you!” Tu the Pan thumped Huo on his shoulder and left the commander’s war tent. Tu the Pan’s excitement is seen in his eyes as he never had seen anything close to a body of water in Zandallr, only hearing about it through tales about magnificent sea creatures and towering waves from a long time ago.

If you asked anyone who knew young Tu the Pan, they would tell you that he was a very different person and not the person you see today with that cold hard character. Tu the Pan’s childhood village was by the frozen sea. He never had once feared the icy cold waters and loved diving and fishing with his friends. Tu the Pan loved playing beneath the ice so much that he holds the record in the village for holding his breath the longest. It’s said that if not for the unfortunate accident that ended his brother’s life; Tu the Pan would be a different person altogether and probably wouldn’t have ended up enlisting in the troll army. He never chose to talk about that with anyone.

“Fall in combat engineers!” Tu the Pan commanded his troops. “We know your family is beyond the void, most of us have lost friends, people that we care about. Today, we take a step closer to finding our way home. A way back to peace!” combat engineers respond enthusiastically “FOR PEACE!” “Go forth! Build us a ship that will conquer the seas!”

The engineers worked tirelessly to build up an entire fleet of ships including the Poseidon a massive ship that could cut through ice effortlessly. It was majestic and towering and the technology behind that was state of the art utilizing Huo’s pineapple drive to power the ship’s engine it could sail out for days without the need to refuel.

“Sir Tu the Pan. While we started working on the ships we made a wearable tech that will make maneuvering the seas much easier.” Said Tu the Pan’s chief engineer. Intrigued Tu the Pan asked. “What does it do?” the chief engineer replied. “It’s a psychic controller that allows the wearer to turn tides but be careful it’s untested and the response is varied from person to person.” Tu the Pan looked at the gauntlet and slips his hand into it. “Fits like a glove!” Tu the Pan took his place at the command post and shouted out to his crew “It’s Time to set out! Let’s go the tides will not wait for us!” Tu the Pan’s crew scurried to get the inventory loaded up on the ships and cast off into the unknown.

Where will the seas take Tu the Pan? What is that strange psychic controller?
